There is a food distribution opportunity coming to Ridgecrest through "City Serve" where boxes of food will be distributed to city residents. I signed FBC up to participate where we can because I think this is a tremendous opportunity for us to reach out to our community alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ from other church communities. Below is an email from Bill Logan of Immanuel Baptist on the details of the event. If you are interested in helping, please let Jim Lanon know ASAP!
[Dear Fellow Pastors,
I'm writing to you in regards to an amazing opportunity we have as the body of Christ to bless our community! CityServe*, a Christian non-profit organization has recently become a distributor for the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box Program. CityServe in Bakersfield reached out to Ridgecrest through the Lighthouse to gather together 10 or more churches in our area who want to partner in this ministry to distribute food to those in need. If we have enough participants, CityServe will send a semi-truck to Ridgecrest to deliver 1,800 boxes of food a week. The contents of the boxes are different each week and consist of either fruit, fruit and vegetables, or protein such as deli meats and cheese.
Here are some details to consider:
